Liverpool Hope Nightline is a confidential listening and information service run FOR students BY students. We offer anonymous, non judgmental and non-directive support for all callers, regardless of the situation. You can talk about anything you like.As well as the listening service, Nightline can also provide information, such as contact numbers for a wide range of places. Just hit that message button and ask – it’s as easy as that!If you would like to speak to anyone outside of our opening hours, Hope students should contact SDW for the most appropriate local support services or get in touch with their SRT. You can also contact Samaritans by calling 116 123, or via email [email protected]. This is a free, 24 hour listening service, which can offer support both in and outside of opening hours.

We have five main principles. We are:Confidential - Complete confidentiality is upheld at all times. The conversations won't be shared beyond you and the volunteers. We only break confidentiality in cases of a terrorist threat, court order, at a user’s request or due to a serious abuse of the service.
Anonymous - Complete anonymity is guaranteed. You don't even have to tell us your name!
Non-Advisory - We are here to listen to anything. We won't tell you what to do though!
Non-Directive - We are not here to tell you what to do, but, we will listen to whatever you want to talk about!
Non-Judgmental - It's okay to not be okay. We will always listen to you and never lecture, no matter what you're messaging about!

What is Nightline?
It is a listening and information service, run by students for students. We provide a confidential, anonymous; non-judgemental, non-directional and non-advisory service. We run via instant messaging ('IM') through volunteers who are Hope students.
We cover all of the Liverpool Hope University campuses: Hope Park Campus, Aigburth Park Campus and
Creative Campus, including non-residential LHU students.
What can I message you about?
You can message us about anything. We are here to respond whether you need something as simple as a number for a taxi or are struggling with academic or personal issues. We are non-judgmental and no issue is too small or too big for us!
When can I use the service?
Every Friday and Saturday 10pm-2am during term time.
Can I use the service during the holidays?
The IM service is only open during Liverpool Hope University term time, but during the holidays you can contact Samaritans on 116 123.
Who answers the messages?
The messages are answered by university students who have undergone extensive training to make them good responders to all types of conversations. All our volunteers are anonymous so they will not reveal their identity to you.
How long can I message for?
There is no time limit to messages other than our opening hours: Friday-Sunday 10pm-2am!
Is it confidential?
