Liverpool Hope Nightline is a confidential listening and information service run for students by students. We offer anonymous, non judgemental and non-directive support for all callers, regardless of the situation. You can talk about anything you like. As well as the listening service, Nightline can also provide information, such as contact numbers for a wide range of places. Just hit that message button and ask – it’s as easy as that!
Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, and concern for the health and safety of our volunteers, we have made the decision to operate virtually as an IM service.
If you would like to speak to anyone outside of our opening hours, Hope students should contact SDW for the most appropriate local support services or get in touch with their SRT. You can also contact Samaritans by calling 116 123, or via email [email protected] This is a free, 24 hour listening service, which can offer support both in and outside of opening hours. Please see samaritans.org for more information.
We have five main principles. We are:
Confidential - Complete confidentiality is upheld at all times. The conversations won't be shared beyond you and the volunteers. We only break confidentiality in cases of a terrorist threat, court order, at a user’s request or due to a serious abuse of the service.
Anonymous - Complete anonymity is guaranteed. You don't even have to tell us your name!
Non-Advisory - We are here to listen to anything. We won't tell you what to do though!
Non-Directive - We are not here to tell you what to do, but, we will listen to whatever you want to talk about!
Non-Judgemental - It's okay to not be okay. We will always listen to you and never lecture, no matter what you're messaging about!
